| Well... we are done. Now to step back a little and take stock. Was it a success? Yes. Yes. No. No. Yes, no and yes. There are a lot things to look into, such as reorganizing so that we actually break even in costs, restructuring the events, and recruiting real volunteers instead of having all the work done by two people. (Special Shout out to Daniel Joy, because without him, I would have given up a looong time ago. I love you, Danny, my papito gachi muchi. Thanks to all the sponsors, like Song Kran Thai Restaurant, the Bronx Museum Of The Arts, the Studio Museum of Harlem, PRISMcomics.org (huge help!), and one great sponsor, Andy Salgado from InCollaboration Inc. (www.readers.org) that came through at the last minute and helped absorb some of the costs. Also, a special thank you to Kevin O'Reilly of TandLevents.com for making all the beer, soda and ice possible. His company (including ThePartyCrew.net) handle some of the biggest high profile events in the city, and it was a real blessing to have his very very generous support. Did anything go wrong? Well, yeah. But so what? More went right. We got our name out there, and showed people that a bear event doesn't have to be only about beer and cruising. There's a lot of Art in us... a lot of beautiful, dynamic, vibrant, sexy Art, and this was one way to showcase it. A lot of people showed. A lot of people modeled (bless them). A lot of people (really talented folks) drew. A lot of people had a good time just chilling, drawing, drinking, eating, mingling, even cruising... and really warming up to a new kind of event. Yeah, we didn't make a lot of money, but that was never the point. We gained a foothold, I hope, into a new way of celebrating and merging our communities. Now to plan next year's event. See you in 2009! And if you'd like to volunteer, or ask any questions or just want to add your name to our new mailing list... please click HERE and send us some e-mail. Hasta la proxima... |
